Group Tour Request Form

The University of Maryland Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers 60- to 90-minute guided walking tours for eligible groups. Please review the information below before completing the Group Tour Request Form.

Fall group tours are offered September - December on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. ET, excluding university holidays and weekends or during Undergraduate Admission event days. Group tours schedule offerings are based on several factors including the daily visit calendar, venue space, and student tour guide class schedules.

Submitting this form does not guarantee a group tour. Tours are based on availability, scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and fill quickly. Our team will follow up regarding your request within 5–7 business days.

High school student groups in grades 10–12
Prospective transfer student groups
College or high school counselor groups
Community-based and nonprofit organizations serving prospective college students

Group Tour Request Forms must be submitted by a professional staff member, counselor or group advisor.

Group Tour Requirements and Expectations:

Before submitting a request, please note:

Groups must include a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 65 students. Due to space limitations, we are unable to accommodate groups larger than 65.
Please provide two preferred tour dates. We will do our best to accommodate your preferences based on availability.
Each group must designate a professional staff member or group leader as the primary point of contact (POC) who will be present on the day of the tour.
Groups must provide one chaperone for every 10 students.
A final group roster, including chaperone names and updated contact information for the day-of POC, must be submitted at least seven business days before the tour.
Groups arriving late are not guaranteed a guided tour. Groups arriving 15 minutes or more after their scheduled start time may be offered a self-guided tour.
Information sessions are not included with group tours.
UMD does not provide transportation or meals for group visits. Groups are responsible for coordinating and covering these expenses. We are happy to provide guidance on dining options on campus.
All guests are expected to follow University of Maryland policies and standards of conduct. Groups that do not adhere to these expectations may have their tour ended.

Tours are not available on weekends, university holidays, or university event days.

Group Travel Plans

f you will be arriving by car or van, please park in The Hotel Parking garage, which will be discounted for you for a special rate of $5 for 4 hours (All cargo vans must park on the 1st floor). We encourage you to create a Metropolis parking account prior to arriving to campus.The discounted rate will be applied at Undergraduate Admissions Visitor Center front desk during Check-in and operational hours 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.

If you will arrive by bus, you will be asked to park at the WeWork Parking lot. We do need prior notification if you plan to travel by school bus or charter bus so we can notify the appropriate parties of coach staging needs.

Group Visit Guidelines

To help ensure a positive experience for your group and our campus community, please review the following guidelines before your visit:

Please be respectful of admissions staff, tour guides, students and other members of the UMD community.
Campus tours are primarily outdoors and take place rain or shine. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and water.
UMD may shorten, modify or cancel a tour due to severe weather, extreme heat, poor air quality or other conditions that may affect guest safety.
To encourage participation and engagement, students should refrain from using phones during presentations and the campus tour.
Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately throughout the visit. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in the visit being ended early.
You agree to return a roster of the students and chaperone's participating in the visit 10 business days prior to arrival.
Groups arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their tour shortened or cancelled based on tour guide availability.
