College Park & Beyond
UMD is located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, just four miles from the nation’s capital and in the heart of everything. We’re near international, national and state centers for government, research, culture and business, providing unmatched opportunities for our students and researchers.
All around UMD, dozens of new businesses have taken root, housing options have dramatically expanded and an array of retailers have set up shop through an ongoing $2 billion public-private investment to create one of the nation's best college towns.
Just 30 miles from campus, Baltimore offers a vibrant mix of history, arts, and innovation. From exploring museums and the Inner Harbor to interning at top hospitals, startups, and nonprofits, Terps can tap into unique academic, cultural, and career-building experiences.
Only four Metro stops away, Washington, D.C., is an extension of the classroom for Terps. With unmatched access to internships on Capitol Hill, Smithsonian museums, international organizations, and cultural events, the city is a dynamic part of student life.
